\begin{gathered} (3)/(12)=((x+2))/(18) \\ 3\cdot18=12(x+2) \\ 54=12x+24 \\ 54-24=12x \\ 30=12x \\ (30)/(12)=(12x)/(12) \\ 2.5=x \\ x=2.5 \end{gathered}

Answer: x = 2.5
