Solution

find the slope of the line that goes through the given points (-2,-4) (1/4,5)

\begin{gathered} slope\text{ =m} \\ m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} x_1=-2 \\ x_2=(1)/(4) \\ y_1=-4 \\ y_2=5 \end{gathered}
m=(5--4)/((1)/(4)--2)=(9)/(2.25)=4

Therefore the slope of the line = 4
