You have the following system of equations:

x = 2y - 3

2x - 3y = -5

in order to solve the previous system by elimination, first write the first equation as follow:

x = 2y - 3

x - 2y = -3

next, multiply the previous equation by 2, and subtract the equation to the second one of the system, just as follow:

2(x - 2y = -3)

2x - 4y = -6

2x - 3y = -5

- 2x + 4y = 6

y = 1

next, replace the previous value of y into the expression x = 2y - 3:

x = 2y - 3

x = 2(1) - 3

x = -1

Hence, the solution to the given system of equations is:

x = -1

y = 1
