The equations are given by,

\begin{gathered} 17x=99-13y\ldots\text{.}\mathrm{}(1) \\ 13x=-39+13y--(2) \end{gathered}

Add equations (1) and(2).

\begin{gathered} 17x+13x=99-13y-39+13y \\ 30x=60 \\ x=(60)/(30)=2 \end{gathered}

Substitute the value of x in equation(1).

\begin{gathered} 17X2=99-13y \\ 34=99-13y \\ 34-99=-13y \\ -65=-13y \\ (-65)/(-13)=y \\ 5=y\text{ } \\ So,\text{ the values are x=2 and y=5} \\ (x,y)=(2,5) \end{gathered}
