Area of the square is

s=b*h
s=16*16
s=256

Area of circle
c=pi*r^2
c=pi*8^2
c=200.96

Now we need to minus the area of the circle off of the area of the square

TA=s-c
TA=256-200.96
TA=55.04 ft^2

So the total area is 55.04 ft^2
