Find a point-slope form for the line with slope

(1)/(5) and passing through the point (-8,-4)

__________________________________________

The point-slope form for the line is

The slope is m

and point 1 (x1, y1)

(y - y1 ) = m (x - x1)

________________________________

The case m = 1/5 and the point (-8,-4); x1= -8; y1= -4

(y - (-4) ) = (1/5) (x - (-8))

(y + 4) = (1/5) (x +8)

___________________________________

The point-slope form for the line is

(y + 4) = (1/5) (x +8)
