You observe the cells of a lion to determine how paw size is determined. Lion 1 has narrowpaws, and its genes are different from each other. Lion 2 has wide paws, and its genes are thesame. How does this affect how many types of proteins are in the cells?

The genes are large sequences of DNA in the genome, and although is more complex than that, in this case, we could say that each gene produces one protein. Therefore, having two different genes or proteins (being heterozygous) will produce narrow paws; meanwhile having two copies of the same gene or one protein (homozygous) will produce wide paws
