we are given the following equation:

7x+4=x-2

To solve for "x" we will first subtract "x" to both sides:

\begin{gathered} 7x-x+4=x-x-2 \\ 6x+4=-2 \end{gathered}

Now we will subtract 4 to both sides:

\begin{gathered} 6x+4-4=-2-4 \\ 6x=-6 \end{gathered}

Dividing both sides by 6:

x=-(6)/(6)=-1

Therefore, x = -1
