we are given the pH of the solution as 3.17 are we are required to find the [H₃O+]

we know that :

pH = - log[H₃O+]

-pH = log[H₃O+]

10⁻ᵖᴴ = 10ˡᵒᵍ[ᴴ₃ᴼ⁺]

10⁻ᵖᴴ = [H₃O+]

therefore:

10⁻³.¹⁷ = [H₃O+]

6.8x10⁻⁴ M = [H₃O+]

therefore the [H₃O+] is 6.8x10 minus 4 Molar
