The average rate of change is found with the following formula

(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)

Where a=40 and b=50.

According to the given table, t=40 is related to f(t)=48.2, and t=50 is related to 56.6. Using the formula above, we have

(56.6-48.2)/(50-40)=(8.4)/(10)=0.84

Therefore, the average rate of change between t=40 and t=50 is 0.84.
