ANSWERS

Slope-intercept form: y = 2x - 11

Standard form: 2x - y = 11

Step-by-step explanation

To write in slope-intercept form we just have to clear y from the equation and eliminate the parenthesis by using the distributive property of multiplication:

\begin{gathered} y+3=2(x-4) \\ y=2(x-4)-3 \\ y=2x-2\cdot4-3 \\ y=2x-8-3 \\ y=2x-11 \end{gathered}

For standard form we have to write something like:

ax+by=c

where a must be a positive number.

Therefore, from the slope-intercept form, we can take y to the other side of the equation and -11 where y is:

\begin{gathered} y=2x-11 \\ 2x-y=11 \end{gathered}
