As per given by the question,

There are given that two point,

(1,\text{ -2), and (2, 4)}

Now,

From the given point,

Suppose;

x_1=1,y_1=-2,x_2=2,y_2=4

Then,

From the formula of distance between two points,

d=\sqrt[]{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}

Then,

Put the value in above formula;

\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{(1_{}-2_{})^2+(-2-4)^2} \end{gathered}

Now,

The above value of d can be written as;

d=\sqrt[]{(1_{}-2_{})^2+(-2-4)^2}

Hence, the option first is correct.
