Answer:

x = (1+3/4)(32/8) = (7/4)(4) = 7

Explanation:

Given that Erin needs (1+3/4) cups of white sugar to make 8 cups of lemonade, then the number of cups of sugar she will need to fill a 32cup pitcher is (x represents the number of cups of sugar ):

x = (1+3/4)(32/8) = (7/4)(4) = 7

So the answer is: the number of cups of sugar Erin needs to fill a 32cup pitcher is 7.

We have the next information

1(1)/(4)\text{ cups of white sugar }\rightarrow8\text{ cups of lemonade}

First we need to change the 1 1/4 to a fraction

1\text{ }(1)/(4)=(5)/(4)

we do the division and we obtain the decimal value 1.25

in order to obtain the number of cups of sugar, we do the next operation, where c is the number of cups needed to do 32 cups

c=(32*1.25)/(8)=5

She will need 5 cups of sugar to fill 32 cup pitcher
