If the square root of C is equal to 8 , what is C equal to ?

The first thing we have to do is turn the statement into an equation:


\sqrt[2]{C}=8

To solve for C we can raise the expression on both sides to the square and thus eliminate the root


\begin{gathered} (\sqrt[2]{C})^2=(8)^2 \\ C=64 \end{gathered}

Solving we can see that C is equal to 64
