the Answer:

200 Children & 500 Adults

Explanation:

(A) Set up two equations from the given info:

1) 7C + 10A = 6,400 (amount of money brought in)

2) C + A = 700 (the total amount of people in attendence)

(B) set up a substitution:

A = 640 - 0.7C (can also solve for C, but in this case would be more difficult)

(C) use substitution in the second equation:

C+(640-0.7C)= 700

(D) do the algebra and solve for C:

C= 200

(E) insert the actual value of C back into the equations and solve for A:

200+A = 700 so A=500 (again, you could use either equation, this one is just simpler)

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Answer:

there were 200 children and 500 adults at the show

Explanation:

7x+10y=6400

x+y=700

x=700-y

7(700-y)+10y=6400

4900-7y+10y=6400

-7y+10y=1500

3y=1500

y=500

x=700-y

x=700-500

x=200
