(6y^2+3)/(y+3)+(4)/(y+3)

The denominator refers to the number below the line in a fraction. It is the divisor

The common denominator would refer to a denominator that is common to both terms of the expression above. We have it thus:


^(\doubleprime)y+3^(\doubleprime)

''y + 3'' is a common denominator to both terms
