Solving an equation

In order to solve the equation for v we just have to remember one simple rule: what we do in one side of the equal "=" is what we must do on the other side.

We have that

(12)/(9)=(v)/(3)

We want to find a way to let v alone on the right side of the equation. If can multiply both sides of the equation by 3:

\begin{gathered} (12)/(9)=(v)/(3) \\ \downarrow \\ (12)/(9)\cdot3=(v)/(3)\cdot3 \\ \end{gathered}

For the right side, since 1/3 = 1:

(v)/(3)\cdot3=v\cdot1=v

Then:

(12)/(9)\cdot3=v

Since 12 · 3 = 36, then

(36)/(9)=v

Since 36/9 = 4, then:

4=v

Answer- v = 4
