Given:

\text{length =}8*10^4\text{ m}
t\text{hickness}=5*10^(-6)m

To find the standard form of length, multiply and divide the length by 10, we get

\text{length =}8*10^4\text{ }*(10)/(10)

\text{length =}(8)/(10)*10^4\text{ }*10
\text{Use }(8)/(10)=0.8\text{ and }10^4*10=10^(4+1)=10^5.

\text{length =}0.8*10^5m

To find the standard form of thickness, multiply and divide the thickness by 10, we get

t\text{hickness}=5*10^(-6)*(10)/(10)

t\text{hickness}=(5)/(10)*10^(-6)*10
\text{Use }(5)/(10)=0.5\text{ and }10^(-6)*10=10^(-6+1)=10^(-5).

t\text{hickness}=0.5*10^(-5)m

Hence the standard form of length and thickness is

\text{length =}0.8*10^5m

t\text{hickness}=0.5*10^(-5)m
