The quadratic equation with roots a and b is given by:


x^2-(a+b)x+ab=0

Here a=1/2 and b=-4.

So the equation is given by:


\begin{gathered} x^2-((1)/(2)-4)x+((1)/(2))(-4)=0 \\ x^2+(7)/(2)x-2=0 \\ 2x^2+7x-4=0 \end{gathered}
