a cylinder with a diameter of 8 feet is cut out of a cube that measures 8 feet on each side. What is the volume of the resulting shape? (use the Pi round to the nearest tenth) _____ ft3I had 110.08 but it is not correct.

109.9 ft³

1) Considering that the Volume of a cube is given by:

V =a³

V = 8³

V =512 ft³

2) And the cylinder cut out has the following measures:

radius: 4 ft

height = 8

\begin{gathered} V_{\text{cylinder}}=\pi\cdot r^2\cdot h \\ V=\pi\cdot4^2\cdot8 \\ V=128\pi ft^3 \end{gathered}

3) So let's subtract from 512 ft³ the Volume of the Cylinder: 128π

512 -128π = 109.876 and rounding off to the nearest tenth 109.9.

Note that the rounding off is always at the very last moment.
