We have the following:

\begin{gathered} -2x-5y=1 \\ 2x+2y=-10 \end{gathered}

solving using elimination:

\begin{gathered} -2x-5y=1 \\ + \\ 2x+2y=-10 \\ -2x+2x-5y+2y=1-10 \\ -3y=-9 \\ y=(-9)/(-3) \\ y=3 \end{gathered}

Now, for x:

\begin{gathered} -2x-5\cdot3=1 \\ -2x-15=1 \\ -2x=16 \\ x=(16)/(-2) \\ x=-8 \end{gathered}

Therefore:

x = -8 and y = 3
