We need to solve the following math problem,

1(3)/(4)*2

Step #1. Convert mixed numbers into improper fractions

a(b)/(c)=(a*c+b)/(c)
1(3)/(4)=(1*4+3)/(4)=(7)/(4)

Step #2. multiply 7/4 * 2

(7)/(4)*2=(7)/(4)*(2)/(1)=(7*2)/(4*1)=(14)/(4)

Step #3. Simplify

(7*2)/(2*2)=(7)/(2)

Step #4. Convert back to mixed number

(7)/(2)=3\quad\mathrm{Remainder}\quad\:1

then,

\begin{gathered} =quotient(remainder)/(divisor) \\ \\ (7)/(2)=3(1)/(2) \end{gathered}

Answer: 3 1/2 or option b.
