Jack is making a scale drawing of his house. He has decided to use a scale of 1 in.: 100 m. If a part of his house is 20 m long, what will be the length of this part on his scale drawing?

we can use cross-multiplication


\begin{gathered} 1\longrightarrow100 \\ x\longrightarrow20 \end{gathered}

where x is the measure we need


\begin{gathered} x=(20*1)/(100) \\ x=0.2 \end{gathered}

so, the measure is 0.2 in
