x^2-6x+9=(x-3)^2

As the second term is -6 (negative) the binomial expression must be one that includes a negative sign. Must be (x- ) and the second term of that binomial expresion has to be half the second term of the equivalent trinomial, in this case -3.


(x-3)^2

And by multiplying we obtain the trinomial.
