Val measures the diameter of a ball as 12 inches. How many cubic inches of air does this ball hold, to the nearest tenth? Use 3.14 for it. The ball holds about cubic inches of air.

The diameter of the ball is 12 inches, but for the volume we need the radius (half of the diameter) according to the formula for the volume of a sphere:


\text{Volume}=(4)/(3)\pi\cdot R^3

Then in our case, the radius is 12/2 = 6 in

That we can replace in the formula as shown below


\text{Volume}=(4)/(3)\pi\cdot(6)^3=904.32

Since we need to round to the nearest tenth this valu, we type the following: 904.3 in^3
