These two processes are described as antagonists or the two sides of the same coin because they start with the molecules the other ends. In other words, to perform photosynthesis, plants need to capture CO2 plus water to, with the sunlight action, produce glucose plus O2, whilst to perform cellular respiration, they need to use O2 plus glucose, and produce CO2, plus water and ATP.
