3x - 5y = 18

To find the slope and the intercept, we need to first re-arrange the equation to be in the form y=mx + b

That is;

-5y = -3x + 18

Divide through the equation by -5

y = (3/5) x - 18/5

Comparing with y =mx + b

where m is the slope and b is the intercept

slope = m = 3/5

Intercept = b = -18/5
