In order to determine the wide of the TV, consider that the height, the wide and the diagonal of the TV can be taken as the sides of a right triangle. Then, use the Pythagorean theorem:

d² = w² + h²

where d is the diagonal length (hypotenuse), w is the wide and h is the height (the legs of the triangle).

d = 63 in

h = 43 in

w = ?

solve the equation above for w and replace teh values of the other parameters:

w² = d² - h²

w = √(d² - h²)

w = √((63 in)² - (43 in)²)

w = √(3,969 in² - 1,849 in²)

w = √(2,120 in²)

w = 46.04 in

w ≈ 46.0 in

Hence, the wide of the TV is 46.0 in
