Let the Length of the rectangle be l and the width of the rectangle be w

The width of a rectangular field is 3 meters less than its length, this can be represented as

w = l - 3

Given the perimeter = 58meters

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l + w)

58 = 2(l + l-3)

58 = 2(2l - 3)

58 = 4l - 6

58 + 6 = 4l

64 = 4l

4l = 64

l = 64/4

l = 16

w = l - 3

w = 16 - 3

w = 13

Hence, the length of the rectangle is 16 meters while the width is 13 meters.
