Find the equation of the line that passes through the given points. (Use x as your variable.)

(2, 0), (0, −1)

step 1

Find out the slope

m=(-1-0)/(0-2)

m=-1/-2

m=1/2

step 2

Find out the equation of the line in slope-intercept form

y=mx+b

where

m is the slope

b is the y-coordinate of the y-intercept

we have

m=1/2

the y-intercept is given -----> (0,-1)

so

b=-1

substitute

y=(1/2)x-1
