Given ramp constitutes a right angles triangle, therefore the Pythagoras Theorem is applicable.

Let H be the horizontal distance of the ramp.

The hypotenuse is 37 inches, and the height is 12 inches.

Then, according to the Pythagoras Theorem,


\begin{gathered} H^2+12^2=37^2 \\ H^2+144=1369 \\ H^2=1369-144 \\ H^2=1225 \\ H=\sqrt[]{1225} \\ H=35 \end{gathered}

Thus, the horizontal distance of the ramp is 35 inches.
