We are given a fraction, and are asked to simplify it, in order to do that we do the following:

(30)/(66)\text{ }we\text{ }divide\text{ }by\text{ }2\text{ }both\text{ }numerator\text{ }and\text{ }denominator\text{ --> }(15)/(33)

We can continue simplifying by dividing both the numerator and the denominator, not by 2 now, but by 3, as follows:

(15)/(33)\text{ --> }(5)/(11)

And we can't simplify any further, therefore the answer is 5/11.

The simplification process consists of looking for a number that allows us to divide both the numerator and the denominator by it. In our first step, we can divide both of them by 2 and have exact numbers, 30 divided by 2 is 15, and 66 divided by 2 is 33.

In our second step, we can't divide 15 and 33 by 2, because none of those have exact halves, but both can be divided by 3, and we will have exact results. 15 divided by 3 is 5 and 33 divided by 3 is 11.

We now have 5 and 11, both of which are prime numbers, therefore, we won't be able to find any number that can divide both of them and have exact results, other than 1, therefore, we can't simplify any further.
