Here in this question, we want to find the average rate of change of the function over the given interval.

Mathematically, the average rate of change of a functuntion F(x) over an interval [a, b] can be calculated using the equation below;

F(b) - F(a)/(b-a)

In this question, b = 8 and a = 4

We can find the value of f(a) and f(b) from the graph

From the graph, f(a) = 40 while F(b) = 20

So the average rate of change of the function will be; (20-40)/(8-4) = 20/-4 = -5

The average rate of change of the function over the given interval is -5
