To find which case is the better deal, we need to find the price per ounce of each bottle.

To do that, we just need to divide the price of the bottle by its weight.

For the first bottle, we have that:

\begin{gathered} \text{price}=\text{\$}3.99 \\ \text{weight}=6\text{ oz} \\ \text{price per ounce}=(3.99)/(6)=0.667 \end{gathered}

For the second bottle, we have that:

\begin{gathered} \text{price}=\text{\$}9.49 \\ \text{weight}=14\text{ oz} \\ \text{price per ounce}=(9.49)/(14)=0.678 \end{gathered}

The price per ounce of the first bottle is lower, so the first shampoo is a better deal.
