You write the 5 in the quotient:

2. You multiply 5 by 8 (5x8=40) and write the result under the first two digirts of the divident, then you make a substraction:

3. Bring down the next digit of the divident:

4. Divide 16 into 8.

How many times does 8 fit in 16: 2

Repeat the steps 1 and 2:
