In AGHI, the measure of angle I=90^ °, HI = 1.1 feet , and IG = 7.5 feet. Find the measure of angle G to the nearest tenth of a degree.

To find angle x we can use the tangent function. Remember that the tangent function is defined as:


\tan \theta=\frac{\text{opp}}{\text{adj}}

For angle x the opposite leg is 1.1 and the adjacent leg is 7.5, plugging this values into the equation above and solving for x we have:


\begin{gathered} \tan x=(1.1)/(7.5) \\ x=\tan ^(-1)((1.1)/(7.5)) \\ x=8.3 \end{gathered}

Therefore x is equal to 8.3°
