Given the following trinomial expression:

x^2-x-2

We will factor the trinomial as follows:

We need two numbers the product = -2, and the difference = -1

First the factor of 2 = 2 * 1

So,

x^2-x-2=(x-2)(x+1)

So, the answer will be: (x-2)(x+1)
