A furniture store charges $52 for a certain lamp. This price is 30% more than the amount its costs the store to buy one of these lamps. Once the following year’s models arrive, store employees can purchase any remaining lamps at 40% off the store’s cost. How much would it cost an employee to purchase one of these lamps at this discount?

Given:

Selling price of store is SP = $52.

Discount for store employees is, d = 40%.

The objective is to find the price for an employee to purchase the lamp.

The required price can be calculated as,

\begin{gathered} P=SP-(d* SP) \\ P=52-((40)/(100)*52) \\ =52-20.8 \\ =29.2 \end{gathered}

Hence, the price for an employee to purchase the lamp is $29.2
