We have the following:

d(P_1,P_2)=\sqrt[]{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Now,

\begin{gathered} P_1=(3,1)=(x_1,y_1) \\ P_2=(3,-5)=(x_2,y_2) \end{gathered}

replacing:

\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{(3-3)^2+(-5-1_{})^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{0^2+(-6)^2} \\ d=\sqrt[]{36} \\ d=6 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the answer is 6 units
