Given:

Total amount of water = 5 liters

Amount used by Juan = 1⅜ liters

Amount used by Crystal = 2⅕ liters

Remaining amount of water = ⅚ liters

To find the amount of water used by Jose, use the formula:

Total Amount of water = Amount used by Juan + Amount used by Crystal + Amount used by Jose + remainder

Amount used by Jose = Total amount - (Amount used by Juan + Amount used by crystal + remainder)

Thus, we have:

\text{ Amount used by Jose = }5\text{ - (1}(3)/(8)+2(1)/(5)+(5)/(6))

Solving further:

\begin{gathered} Amount\text{ used by Jose = 5 - (}(11)/(8)+(11)/(5)+(5)/(6)) \\ \\ \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} \text{Amount used by Jose = }5\text{ - (}(165+264+100)/(120)) \\ \\ \text{Amount used by Jose = 5 - (}(529)/(120)) \\ \\ \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} \text{Amount used by Jose = }(5)/(1)-(529)/(120)=(600-529)/(120)=(71)/(120) \\ \\ \end{gathered}

ANSWER:

(71)/(120)\text{ Liters}
