Brett is performing an experiment where he produces Ammonia gas from Nitrogen gas and Hydrogen gas. Use the balanced equation to below to answer the question about Brett’s experiment: N2(g) + 3 H2(g) ® 2 NH3(g)How many moles of nitrogen gas (N2) would Brett be required to use to react completely with 9 moles of hydrogen gas (H2)?

1) Balance the chemical equation

N_2+3H_2\rightarrow2NH_3

2) moles that react with 9 mol H2

The molar ratio between N2 and H2.

1 mol N2: 3 mol H2

\text{mol N}_2=9molH_2\cdot(1molN_2)/(3molH_2)=3molN_2

We need 3 mol N2.
