The combined length of cables is,

r+s=50

Determine the measure of cable r by using pythagoras theorem.

\begin{gathered} r^2=(16)^2+(12)^2 \\ =256+144 \\ =400 \\ r=\sqrt[]{400} \\ =20 \end{gathered}

Determine the measure of cable s.

\begin{gathered} 20+s=50 \\ s=50-20 \\ =30 \end{gathered}

For angle x, perpendicular is 16 and hypotenuse is 30.

Determine the measure of angle x.

\begin{gathered} \sin x=(16)/(30) \\ x=\sin ^(-1)(0.533) \\ =32.208^(\circ) \\ =32^(\circ) \end{gathered}

Thus, measure of angle x is 32 degree.
