A ship is on the surface of the water, and its radar detects a submarine at a horizontal distance of 238m away underwater, at an angle of depression of 25 degrees. Find the depth of the submarine.

110.98 m

Explanation:

you have a right triangle and you know the adjacent side to the 25 degree angle and are looking for the opposite side of the angle

tan of an angle = opposite side/adjacent side

Let d = depth of submarine

So, tan 25 = d/238

238 tan 25 = d

d = 110.98 m
