Base your answer to the question on the information below and on your knowledge of biology.A scientist added an antibiotic to a Petri dish containing bacterial colonies. A day later, the scientist noticedthat many colonies had died, but a few remained. The scientist continued to observe the dish and noted that, eventually, the remaining colonies of bacteria increased in size. The survival of some bacterial colonies was most likely due toA. the bacterial cells changing so that they could live C. meiotic cell division in the bacteriaB. a resistance to the antibioticD. a DNA change caused by the antibiotic

Addition of antibiotic in a media will disrupt the bacterial cell. The end result of this process is either killing the bacteria or slowing down its growth. However, antibiotic resistance can develop along the way. Survival of some bacterial colonies can be possible. Antibiotic can lead to DNA damage. This will lead to accelerated resistance to the antibiotic treatment.
