3. You have the following fraction:


(3)/(8)

In terms of units fraction it is better to express the previous fraction as a sum of units fractions, as follow:


(3)/(8)=(1)/(8)+(1)/(8)+(1)/(8)

Consider that in the right side of the previous expression you have homogeneous fractions. It means that you can add it by adding the numerators and putting the same denominator.

Hence, the answer is:

1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8
