Given:

1.8,19.8,2.3,25.9,8.2

The sample standard deviation is calculated as,

First, find the mean of the data set.

\text{Mean}=(1.8+19.8+2.3+25.9+8.2)/(5)=11.6

Now,

\begin{gathered} s^2=\frac{\sum^5_(i=1)(x_i-\bar{x})^2}{n-1} \\ s^2=((1.8-11.6)^2+(19.8-11.6)^2+(2.3-11.6)^2+(25.9-11.6)^2+(8.2-11.6)^2)/(5-1) \\ s^2=116.455 \\ s=10.79 \end{gathered}

Answer: Standard deviation is 10.79
