In a greenhouse, basil is grown in planters that have a base of 5 1/2 in by 1 2/3 in. If there is a 3 x 3 array of these planters with no space between them, what is the area covered by the planters?

Answer: 82.5 inches

Step-by-step explanation: We know that each plantar has a base of 5.5 by 1 2/3. So if we multiply 5.5 by 1 2/3 we can get 9.166666667. However, there is 9 planters because 3 times 3 is 9. So if we multiply 9.166666667 by 9 we will get 82.5 inches
