Answer:

k=8

Explanation:

METHOD 1:

  1. We will create an equation for slope intercept, y=2x+ 10
  2. Then we replace x with -1, y=2(-1)+10
  3. Multiply -1 and 2, y=-2+10
  4. Combine like terms, so y=8
  5. Because y=k, k=8

METHOD 2:

  1. We can also use
    (y_(2)- y_(3) )/(x_(2)- x_(1) ) =2
  2. We replace all values we know, so that we get,
    (10-k)/(0-(-1))=2
  3. Then we subtract -1 for 0 so we get,
    (10-k)/(1) =2
  4. Then remove the 1 because anything divided by 1 is the dividend, 10-k=2
  5. Subtract two from both sides so 8-k=0
  6. add ka on both sides so 8=k
