Given the following equation:

y=(x-2)^2-1

The standard form of the equation of the parabola is:

(x-h)^2=4p(y-k)

then, if we add 1 on both sides of the equation, we get:

\begin{gathered} y+1=(x-2)^2-1+1 \\ \Rightarrow(x-2)^2=y+1^{} \end{gathered}

therefore, the standard form of the equation is (x-2)^2 = y + 1
