To do this wherever you see x, put 4a + 2, we have


\begin{gathered} g(x)=-3x+14 \\ g(4a+2)=-3(4a+2)+14 \\ \text{expanding we have } \\ g(4a+2)=-12a-6+14 \\ =-12a-6+14 \\ =-12a+8 \end{gathered}
